Why Insulate?
Climate Change Levy
With the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, the issue
of minimizing carbon dioxide emissions has become a key
factor. It is vital that every effort is made to save energy.
A major contribution to reduced carbon dioxide emissions
is achieved by installing new and improving existing insulation.
Reasons for the use of insulation generally fall into one
of the following categories:
- to reduce climate change levy
- to save energy money and
CO2 emissions
- to comply with mandatory legislation
i.e. Building Regulations or Standards
- to reduce heat
loss/heat gain
- to reduce running costs
- to control process temperatures
- to control surface
temperatures
- to reduce the risk of freezing
- to provide condensation
control or to reduce heating plant capacity;
- to protect
equipment from corrosion
- to protect personnel against
burns
- to provide fire and acoustic insulation
- to protect against
frost
Andrews Services can provide our customers with
specifications for the insulation and sheet metal cladding of pipework,
vessels and equipment which includes the calculated
Economic thickness of insulation and protective finish based on
specific site information including payback calculations.
This can also be designed to meet the requirements of
the Governments Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA)
scheme
which
provides financial support to companies who
wish to invest in energy saving technologies.
The Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme enables businesses
to claim 100% first year capital allowances on investments
in energy saving technologies and products. Businesses
are now able to write off the whole cost of their investment
against their taxable profits of the period during which
they make the investment Pipework insulation is on the
Energy Technology List which attract ECAs. |
